Ledger.com/Start® | Getting Started – Lédger®

Welcome to Ledger.com/Start®, the official beginning point for setting up your Ledger® hardware wallet. Whether you’ve just unboxed your device or are preparing to secure your cryptocurrency for the first time, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know—from setup to security and long-term crypto management.

Ledger® gives you complete control of your digital assets, keeping your private keys offline and safe. By following the setup process through Ledger.com/Start®, you ensure that your device and software are genuine, secure, and functioning as intended.

What Is Lédger®?

Lédger® is a global leader in hardware wallet security. The company offers devices that allow users to store and manage cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and DeFi access—all while maintaining ownership of their private keys.

Key features of Lédger® include:

  • Cold storage: Keeps your private keys offline
  • Support for over 5,000 crypto assets
  • Integration with Ledger Live for buying, selling, and managing crypto
  • Compatibility with staking, NFT platforms, and DeFi applications

Using a Ledger device significantly reduces the risk of hacks, scams, and theft compared to keeping assets on exchanges or hot wallets.

Step 1: Visit the Official Start Page – Ledger.com/Start®

Your Ledger journey begins by visiting Ledger.com/Start®, the official setup portal. This ensures:

  • You're downloading the authentic Ledger Live app
  • You're guided through proper device setup
  • You get essential security advice

Never trust search engine links or third-party software. Always type the web address directly to avoid phishing.

Step 2: Unbox and Inspect Your Device

After purchasing a Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, or Ledger Stax, carefully inspect the packaging. Ensure that:

  • The box is sealed properly
  • The device is not damaged
  • All accessories are included (USB cable, recovery sheets, instructions)

If anything seems tampered with, stop immediately and contact official Ledger Support.

Step 3: Set Up Your Ledger® Device

Power on the device and begin the setup process. You will be prompted to:

  1. Choose a PIN code – This protects access to your wallet
  2. Write down your 24-word recovery phrase – This is your only backup
  3. Confirm your recovery phrase – Ensures you’ve stored it correctly

Important:

  • Never take a photo or digital copy of your recovery phrase
  • Do not share it with anyone, ever
  • Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase—not online, by phone, or by email

Step 4: Install Ledger Live App

Ledger Live is the official software to manage your crypto directly through your Ledger hardware wallet. Download it via Ledger.com/Start® for your desktop or mobile device.

Ledger Live lets you:

  • Add crypto accounts (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc.)
  • Buy, sell, or swap crypto assets
  • Stake supported coins
  • View your portfolio balance and performance
  • Manage NFTs on Ethereum and Polygon

It’s your all-in-one solution for secure crypto management.

What You Can Do with Ledger Live

1. Buy and Receive Crypto

Buy supported cryptocurrencies directly through Ledger Live using payment methods like:

  • Credit or debit card
  • Bank transfer
  • Apple Pay (in select regions)

Assets are deposited directly into your Ledger wallet—not stored by an exchange.

2. Send and Swap Crypto

You can securely send and exchange crypto within the app. Every transaction must be manually approved on your device, keeping your assets protected even if your computer or phone is compromised.

3. Stake for Rewards

Ledger Live allows you to earn passive income by staking popular cryptocurrencies, including:

  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Tezos (XTZ)
  • Polkadot (DOT)
  • Cosmos (ATOM)

Staking is simple and secure within Ledger Live.

4. NFT Management

Manage non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with full control and visibility. You can send, receive, and view NFTs stored on supported blockchains—all secured by your Ledger device.

Stay Safe with Ledger®

Using Ledger properly means following security best practices:

  • Always use Ledger.com/Start® and official apps
  • Store your recovery phrase offline in a safe place
  • Double-check every transaction on the physical device
  • Use passphrases or additional PIN settings for enhanced security
  • Never share your recovery phrase under any circumstances

Remember: if you control your keys, you control your crypto.
